10-Day Bird Photography Tour Gambia

Spend ten days searching for Gambia's most colourful and remarkable bird species, along an extensive route connecting the country's best photo hides, wetlands and river areas.

From Banjul International Airport you travel to the simple but atmospheric Kingfisher Lodge, surrounded by the bird-rich Marakissa wetlands. Via Jamora Lodge — with a visit to the Pirang shrimp farm and Farasuto Forest — you continue to the famous Tendaba Camp on the banks of the Gambia River, where a 2 - 3 hour boat trip through the mangrove forests takes you past pelicans, yellow-billed storks and the martial eagle. The rice fields and the abandoned airfield of Tendaba are also on the programme.

Next come Morgan Kunda Lodge, known for species such as the Abyssinian ground hornbill and the black crowned crane, and Roots Camp near the historic village of Jufureh, with a mix of forest and marsh that's ideal for bird photography. The trip ends at the peaceful Mandinary River Lodge, with its own photo hide near a stream.

Throughout the entire trip you are personally guided by an English-speaking guide, and all meals, overnight stays, entrance fees and transfers between the lodges are included. On day 10, depending on your flight schedule, you'll be brought back to Banjul International Airport.
