Bird Tours to Gambia and Senegal
When is the best time for a birdwatching trip to The Gambia?
The Gambia is an excellent destination for birdwatchers and wildlife photographers all year round, but the peak season for bird photography runs from November to April. During these months, the weather is dry and pleasantly warm, while thousands of European migratory birds arrive in The Gambia to spend the winter. They join the more than 560 resident bird species already found across the country.
From colourful species such as the Abyssinian Roller, Yellow-billed Stork and Senegal Parrot to impressive birds of prey including the Bateleur and African Fish Eagle, The Gambia offers exceptional opportunities for bird photography. If you want to experience the peak of the migration season, we recommend travelling between December and February.

But he's not just one of the best guides I've encountered on our numerous trips, with a vast knowledge of the country's diverse ecosystems (coast, mangroves, wetlands, farmland, savanna and Sahel habitats, gallery forests, and even urban areas). He's also an honest and community-minded person who knows how to minimize the impact of traveling to a country striving to escape extreme poverty. Traveling with Passy through Gambia is to discover ancient traditions that are still alive, find medicinal plants still in use, and, above all, experience the intense sense of community that governs Gambian society. Thank you for these fantastic 10 days, and thank you also to Hussein for his skill and caution behind the wheel. We will never forget Gambia, the land of smiles. "
