15-Day Bird Photography Tour Gambia

The ultimate trip for the serious bird photographer: fourteen nights through Gambia's most beautiful birding areas, from river lodges to wetlands, in search of more than 300 bird species in their natural habitat.

Your journey begins at Banjul International Airport, from where you'll travel to the peaceful Mandinary River Lodge, with its own photo hide and species such as the giant kingfisher and violet turaco. Via Boots Camp on the northern bank of the Gambia River and Morgan Kunda Lodge — known for the Abyssinian ground hornbill and the black crowned crane — you continue to the peaceful Kauren Lodge and Kairo Garden Lodge, from where a boat trip to Gambia National Park takes you past hippos, chimpanzees and baboons.

Next come the bird-rich Bao Bolong Wetland Reserve from Baobolong Guest House, the Kudang Wetland near Kakuba Garden Hotel, and Jamora Lodge with the Pirang shrimp farm and Farasuto Forest. The programme continues at the famous Tendaba Camp on the banks of the Gambia River, with a 2 - 3 hour boat trip through the mangrove forests and a visit to the rice fields and airfield of Tendaba. The final days are spent at Kingfisher Lodge, surrounded by the Marakissa wetlands.

Throughout the entire trip you are personally guided by an English-speaking guide, and all meals, overnight stays, entrance fees and transfers between the lodges are included. At the end of the trip you'll be brought back to Banjul International Airport.
