Your journey begins at Banjul International Airport, from where you'll travel to the peaceful Mandinary River Lodge — with its own photo hide and species such as the giant kingfisher, pied kingfisher and violet turaco within easy reach. Over the following days you continue to Jamora Lodge, with a visit to the Pirang shrimp farm and Farasuto Forest, and to the famous Tendaba Camp on the banks of the Gambia River, where a 2 - 3 hour boat trip through the mangrove forests takes you past pelicans, yellow-billed storks and the impressive martial eagle. The rice fields and the abandoned airfield of Tendaba are also on the programme — known for species such as the four-banded sandgrouse and black-headed lapwing.
The final days are spent at Kingfisher Lodge, surrounded by the Marakissa wetlands, with the option of an extra canoe trip.
Throughout the entire trip you are personally guided by an English-speaking guide, and all meals, overnight stays, entrance fees and transfers between the lodges are included. At the end of day 8 you'll be brought back to Banjul International Airport.
